Vintage Sterling Silver Red Enamel Paste Collar Dated London 1956 TurquoiseA spectacular mid 20th Century collar made in London in 1956. The extravagant piece is made up of ornate, open work sterling silver links and droppers decorated with glistening pastes and three beautiful, red guilloche enamel domes topped with further pastes. Guilloche enamel dates to the 17th century and became increasingly popular in the Victorian era. The process involves metal carefully worked by a lathe, or Rose Machine into a decorative pattern

Fobs were usually worn as a decorative accessory to go along with a pocket watch

They’re very eye catching and glisten as bright and beautiful as any diamond

It’s been beautifully preserved and is complete with a lock of black hair inside that most likely belonged to the lady in the accompanying photograph who may have been the wife or mother of the original owner and was clearly very dear to them
